Article Summary
For wireless gas pressure monitoring, define each pressure point and range first, then the channel count, power supply, communication coverage, reporting needs and receiving system. A pressure monitor records pressure conditions; it is not a methane detector or an automatic pressure controller. Hanwei WP180 is a monitoring option for regulating facilities, with final configuration subject to model and site confirmation. This guide provides a requirements checklist for comparing proposals without assuming that every optional function is included.
One channel or two pressure channels?
Choose the number of channels from the physical points that need observation. A project that requires inlet and outlet pressure must describe both points. Do not assume they use the same range, connection or alarm settings merely because they belong to the same station.
- List the station, cabinet or gate-station asset and each pressure tapping point.
- State the operating range and units for each point and request the applicable measurement specification.
- Confirm whether the quoted model includes one or two channels and the required connection accessories.
How should reporting and power be specified?
Separate the need to observe pressure from the need to transmit records. Ask the supplier to distinguish measurement, recording and upload intervals, and explain what happens during a network outage. Battery-life claims need the operating assumptions behind them.
- Provide available power and the actual local mobile-network conditions.
- Define routine reporting, alarm reporting and acceptable data gaps.
- Request confirmation of data retention and recovery behavior for the selected configuration.
What is required for platform or SCADA integration?
A wireless connection alone does not establish compatibility with an existing platform. Agree the destination, data fields, units, timestamps and access responsibilities. Have the proposed interface reviewed by the team that operates the receiving system.
- Identify the receiving platform and ask for the supported protocol and interface documentation.
- Define high and low pressure alarm requirements for operational review; thresholds need site-specific approval.
- Confirm how device faults, communication failures and pressure exceptions will be distinguished.
What must be checked before installation?
WP180 is described for wall-mounted or nearby installation at regulating facilities through a pressure tapping connection. Do not select it as a buried valve-well monitor or an inline gas-main component. Review the site and model documentation before fixing the installation scope.
- Provide connection details, environmental conditions, mounting space and maintenance access.
- Request certification evidence relevant to the actual location and target market.
- If ambient methane monitoring is also needed, specify it separately and review WM300 or another confirmed gas-monitoring arrangement.
